Inherited management of family tea and rubber plantation in Southern Sri Lanka at age 15.

1968

Won one of only ten American Field Service national scholarships — the only way out of Sri Lanka.

Returned to promote fundamental changes, making the AFS program accessible to the rural masses.

Transferred to Georgetown University School of Business, joined Arthur Andersen & Company in Washington, D.C.

Returned to Sri Lanka consulting in the global garment, travel & tourism, and financial services industries.
