Our Heritage
The Colombo Plan
The Colombo Plan for Cooperative Economic and Social Development in Asia and the Pacific was conceived at the Commonwealth Conference on Foreign Affairs held in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in January 1950 and launched on 1 July 1951.
It grew from seven Commonwealth nations — Australia, Britain, Canada, Ceylon, India, New Zealand, and Pakistan — into an international organization of 26 member countries, driving economic and social development across Asia and the Pacific.
The plan emphasized human resource development and south-south cooperation, recognizing the need to raise skill levels to utilize physical capital more efficiently — principles that continue to guide CBDC today.

CPTPP & Global Access
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) gives Canada preferential access to key Asia-Pacific markets — a strategic advantage CBDC leverages for our clients.
From Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector to Dubai’s Expo City, from India’s booming markets to Japan’s innovation ecosystem, we connect Canadian and American businesses to the world’s fastest-growing economies.
